When Business is Family and Family is Business, with Barbora Samieian of Sundays Furniture

In Raising Giant's inaugural piece, we spoke with the lovely Barbora Samieian, an esteemed three time entrepreneur and mom of four.

When I first met Barbora, the first thing that struck me was her warm energy. Not necessarily the maternal kind, although I’m sure that shows up big time when she’s with her four kiddos, but the kind that makes you feel like she’s genuinely happy to be there, in that moment, speaking to you.

It’s a warmth thats hard to exude through a Zoom screen, and yet she did it effortlessly in a way that made me feel like it wasn’t reserved for me; that she treats everyone she meets with the same warmth and enthusiasm.

Aside from the tenacity, determination, and grit to persevere that most entrepreneurs have I believe that the very best ones that have a special ingredient that sets them apart. For Barbora, I think it’s this — her warmth.

She’s a Vancouver connector who’s built multiple very well known businesses with her partner and other cofounders. She’s an incredible woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously, which is probably a practical grounding practice that we could all learn from.

Barbora gave me the privilege of being Raising Giants’ very first interview. Read it below.
